About Our Department

Dedicated volunteers serving Red Islands with courage and pride

Our Story

District Number Ten Volunteer Fire Department has been a pillar of emergency response in the Red Islands community, standing ready to answer the call whenever our neighbors need us most.

Located in the heart of Nova Scotia's coastal region, our fire hall at 14799 Highway 4 serves as the central hub for emergency operations covering Red Islands and the surrounding rural areas. Our jurisdiction includes diverse terrain from residential neighborhoods to forested areas and coastal properties, requiring our team to maintain expertise across multiple emergency scenarios.

What sets us apart is not just our equipment or training—it's the dedication of our volunteer firefighters who drop everything when the alarm sounds. These are your neighbors, friends, and fellow community members who train regularly, sacrifice personal time, and place themselves in harm's way to keep everyone safe.

Every member of District #10 embodies the volunteer spirit: individuals who serve not for pay, but because they believe in protecting their community. This commitment to service is what makes volunteer fire departments the backbone of rural emergency response across Nova Scotia.
